WARDEN'S CASTLE

Warden Castle was originally built as a winter home for William G. Warden, a business partner of Henry Flagler and John D. Rockefeller. The castle remained the home of  the Wardens until 1941 when the building was remodeled to be a hotel which most famously catered to well-known cartoonist, Robert Ripley.

Ripley believed the hotel would be perfect for a museum of his bizzare collection and made many failed attempts to purchase the property. It wasn't until after his death in 1949 that his family acquired he building and in 1950 the Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum opened.

Warden Castle has beautiful Moorish architecture and its massive size made it one of the most memorable buildings in town. Warden Castle is located at the intersection of San Marco and West Castillo and still serves as the Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum.
