POST OFFICE PARK FOUNTAIN

Now called Flagler Fountain, this structure was built sometime between the years 1896 and 1899 at the west end of the city plaza. Named post office park fountain, the fountain was built beside what used to be the city post office, now the Government House Museum. Similar to other fountains located within St. Augustine, the familiar shape was favored by Henry Flagler and was used several times throughout the city (see the Alcazar Hotel and Union Depot pages for other examples of this). This fountain brought a sense of elegance to the plaza and was a nice feature that complimented the warm Florida climate for guests from all over the world.
