KIRKSIDE

Built in 1892 and finished in 1893, Kirkside was built for Henry Flagler and his second wife, Ida Alice. The home was designed by Carrere & Hastings, who designed most of the buildings Flagler ordered. Showing the spirit of the Gilded Age, Kirkside included on location tennis courts, a greenhouse, gardens, and the main house. next to Memorial Presbyterian Church, Flagler and Ida Alice resided in Kirkside while visiting St. Augustine.

The house was demolished in the 1950s and in its place stand three modern homes, one of which is called Villa Kirkside. A small replica of the Kirkside estate can be found inside Memorial Presbyterian Church, showing the property in its original form.
