Ancient City Baptist was the first permanent Baptist church between Key West and Jacksonville and was established in 1887 in the Genovar Opera House. Under the leadership of Dr. G. J. Johnson and a land donation by Henry Flagler the church building was constructed in 1896. The building has received many renovations to accomodate the church following and to help spread their message.
